As Second Life announced that Support Portal will go on maintenance as I still want to ask more from them when I got home, there’s a new Release Candidate Viewer which I think is just right on time because a lot will be shifting to the OnRez viewer.
Cleaner, faster and better
Tired of the old viewer? Well this one is a lot better and simpler than our main Second Life viewer. I myself love the theme. The glass, the buttons, the toolbar, the footer, and most of all THE NET BROWSER!
This is what I love most with the OnRez viewer. It has it’s own separate internet browser so there’s no need to open your profile and use the small browser there if your PC can’t handle the Alt+Tab or opening firefox or IE7.
No more File menu, just ME menu
Another favorite new feature is the ME menu. You’ll notice that instead of the old FILE menu, it has been changed to the ME menu.
What I love about this is that you have every common task you do on one menu. Search, Friends & Groups, the Snapshot is still there, always Run, Set Away, Set Busy, Stop All Animations, Appearance and etc…
You don’t have to check the other menus anymore just to do this tasks. All are now in just one menu.
There are other new features at the cost of a 34mb installer. If I may say so, comparing to the 33mb default Second Life Viewer, I’d rather use the OnRez Viewer.
