From PageRank 4 to 0: Big G punished my blog!

  • Do you like this?

If you use the Google Toolbar, you will know the rank of every site or blog you visit. Mine just dropped to 0 this morning. For what reason? I think it’s my contests.

What is PageRank?

It is Google’s patented method for measuring page importance on a scale from 0 – 10, where 10 is the highest. The PageRank(PR) algorithm analyzes the quality and quantity of links that point to a page. Well, in a more common term, it’s the determinant whether there are lots of people linking to a blog or not. Thus, the violation my Wicked Blog Contests do.

Unimportance of PageRank

Unbelievably, this just proves that even if Chino Yray Dot Com’s PR is 0, Total pageviews and visit for today even increased by 20% comparing to the past week’s pageviews and visit. For Bloggers who wants to make money, PR is very important but this time, it’s now just a myth. I even received 20% more visitors today. So as long as my position stays there in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERP) then PR is just a number.

Hey! I’ll continue doing my contests! My readers are more important than Google’s PageRank.

This is what hapenned to my blog as well, yesterday my PR2 dropped to PR0, I am very angry and I have tried contacting Google about this…no response yet after emailing them twice.

I hope it is the start of an update? Wishful thinking though

Unless your page is connected to a large corporation, it is doubtful you will receive any response. Despite Google having a good working atmosphere for its employees, it is still a business, and if the page rank really is just for show (as I have inquired elsewhere), then I doubt they are going to look at the issue seriously.

I actually caught a barbecue special on television talking about Google’s employees, and how they always eat for free every day. On top of that its either a weekly or monthly all out barbecue that rivals anything I have seen.
They show off their MONSTER status and definitely appreciate their employees.
We should all be so lucky to have that kind of environment to work in!

Storm i watched a similar show Google on TV, too. They have great cookers that prepare for them 4 diferent meals each day. They have a great conditions to work and have fun inside Google. The work schedule gives them permisson to work and make some sports inside Google bulidings.
The program also showed their flexible work schedules… it’s awesome.

This is really VERY GOOD work conditions

You are not alone and the way you have reacted is very laudable. Yes, your readers are more valuable.

Í’m totally agree with you, because for me, people is always in first place.

None of statistics are more important than people, because people makes statistics and not the contrary.

Statistics is an evil class in of itself for many people, so it should not dictate that much. :P As it is, do you get some sort of reward other than a number for having higher statistics? I can understand the pride behind it, but at the same time, it is a bit silly.

It doesn’t matter Chino, What’s more important for you, is a Google statistic or is the people that like to be here and participate?

He did answer this at the very end:

“Hey! I’ll continue doing my contests! My readers are more important than Google’s PageRank.”

Think Chino is more shocked and potentially, temporarily miffed. This page is important, it does have value, but here is a large company saying it does not. It is irritating. What is great, though, is that he is pressing forward and doing what he believes is right.

Frankly, I do not have a Google toolbar. I have enough junk on my web browser; I really do not need more. :P

I’m a little confused with GOOGLE’S search as one day it found my blog and the next it did not. I used the keywords for the WICKED BLOG CONTEST, and Chino’s come up right away. A few weeks back when I started my blog, mine came up as well, but shortly thereafter it did not.

The only quick way I can search for mine now is by my name, which is still cool, having your SL name pull up something :)

My pagerank dropped from 4 to 0 almost overnight. And my pages are not showing up in search results now. It is as if my site is being punished, but I have no idea why. I did find another site that was reproducing my content with no reference back to my site. I am wondering if Google thought I was the one doing the stealing. I contacted the owner of the other site over a week ago and they took all of my content off of their site. I also submitted a re-inclusion request to Google, but no response and no results. Anyone have any ideas? This is my site: Data Backup and Recovery

Thank you so much! It’s so generous of you ^_^

Personally I’m using safari as well, so all I have is a google search bar in the upper right of my nav bar. I never knew Google did a page ranking as well.. I guess it’s very important though as people like to check whos visiting their websites as much as possible : )
